A Typical Visit
You have a lot of choices for vision care. So what makes it worth while to come to Park City Vision Center? The answer is...well, you can see for yourself. (Pardon the pun.) Compare what happened at your last eye exam with the total exam you get at Park City Vision Center.
When you first come in
When you come in, you'll be greeted by a smiling receptionist who's happy to see you. She'll help you fill out a questionnaire that gives the doctors the information they need to give you the best eye examination. She'll also make a copy of your insurance card and discuss payment options with you.
The Pre-Examination
Next, a trained eye technician will measure how well you see, both with and without your glasses and contacts. Using high-tech instruments, she'll also measure such things as:
* The pressure in your eyes (to check for glaucoma)
* Your color vision
* Your depth perception
* The distance between the pupils of your eyes
* The curvature of your corneas
The Examination
The doctor will take over next. He'll start by:
* Checking the muscles around your eyes
* Examining how your pupils react to light
* Looking at the back of your eyes with an ophthmaloscope
* Using a biomicroscope to magnify the living tissue in your eye and check for disease
* Assessing the health of your corneas
Based on what he sees, he may do a number of other examinations, too.
These examinations could save you from such problems as retinal hemorrhage, retinal detachment, and optic nerve disease which could lead to blindness.
But more importantly, they can identify glaucoma, diabetes, aneurisms, and brain tumors, any of which could be fatal. The examination could save your life.
The Refraction
All of this happens before you get to what many people think of as the eye exam: the refraction. Refraction is measuring what your eyeglass or contact lens prescription should be. This is where many eye exams start, but with Park City Vision Center, we're concerned about your total eye health, so we do much more.
When the examination is completed, the Doctor will discuss the results with you. You'll also receive a written diagnostic report in the mail a few days after the examination.
If your eyes need help
If you need eyeglasses or contact lenses, the doctor will introduce you to an eyeglass fashion consultant who understands how to match the shape of your face, your complexion, and your personality to the right frames for you.
Or, you may get consultation about the best types of contact lenses to fit your life style. And you can discuss whether laser surgery is the right alternative for restoring your eyesight.
